Final DPS

As you can see i have added some colour onto the editorial style just to make it look a bit brighter. I have then created 3 circle shapes and added font into them for my title of advice. I have then imported my text and created lines to separate them. I then added a pink rectangle for my agony lines and added the text into it.

On the whole i am very pleased with how my project has turned out as when i first started making my project i had no confidence in my InDesign skills. I am pleased with how my story looks as i like the colours black and coral, i think they give off a good contrast. I am also very pleased with my advice page as i feel like it looks professional. I am very pleased with how the title has turned out, the colours and the shapes look good together. I have gained a lot skills doing my double paged spread.

DPS ...

As you can see on here i have changed the picture as i felt that the other one was far too dark. I have put my article in and changed the font of the title as i feel it looks a lot better as it is typewriting style which is computerised, and identity theft is all about computers. I have also imported in a shape and added text to it which i will then put my advice column and top tips on.

DPS so far...

As you can see this is my DPS so far. I have imported in an image that i took and that is the background of the page. I have added the two titles editorial tips and real life story. I have also put in the article. I think the picture is far too dark so i am going to see if there is anything i can do to change it.

My Finished Front Cover

As you can see my product has came a long way. I put a barcode on from a picture i got from google, i downloaded shapes and put them on and i also took and edited the main image using the heal brush tool to blur out the features on this face, and autocolour and brightness and contrast to make him the correct colour.

I then divised a colour scheme sticking to black and white, and then dark pinks, burgundy and purples. I felt this would be good as my target audience are 75% female. I am very pleased with my final project as i feel like i have gained a huge amout of skills which i have out into this.

Making my front cover..

As you can see from the other image on my blog i decided to take away the red writing as i didn't think it was a good colour choice. Instead i changed it to a more pinky red as it fits in with my target audience being 75% women. I have also downloaded a shape and put it into my document as the magazine i was copying. I also slightly changed my fonts as i feel it looks better.  

Poses Photos

On this photo adam is posing to create the effect that his identity has been stolen so he is holding is hands on his head in worry and shock. I further edited the image to blur out his face so you couldn't see his features making it look like he has had his face (identity) taken away.

Front Cover so far..

This is my front cover so far. As you can see I have imported my picture that i took onto the blank page in photoshop, which i have measured and sized up according to the size and style of the magazine i am looking at, Cosmopolitan. I have edited my picture to make the background a pure white, as before it was a mucky white from the back drop i used. I then highlighted the background again to give it the crisp white colour. I then blurred out the features in his face using the heal brush tool, pressing alt as i go to select the correct complexion of his face. I have then started adding some font such as the mast head and sell lines including question, command and reward headlines. 

I am fairly pleased with my product so far as it is at the very early stages and i already think that my photo the way i have blurred his face looks good and is a nice effect. I also like the style of the writing on my mast head, as it looks quite burnt out and slashed, which i think fits in quite nicely with identity theft. So far i am quite pleased, however there is a lot more to do. 

In Design Project

This is my first project using In Design. As you can see it is a double page spread which I picked out from a magazine and then copied the formats. I measured the margin guidelines, making it look liek a real magazine spread, and also added in a picture from google, which fitted in very well with the spread. I also had different font sizes, ranging from huge fonts to the small text in my article, and also the colours and style of the font ranging from serif, and sans serif, and also put in a circle shape. I then put in some coloums and a drop cap so people know where my article starts, which you see in real magazines, so i felt like this made my double page spread good.

I did this well as i feel it looks very professional, considering i had not used In Design before. I was very pleased with my work and feel as if i developed a lot of skills doing this project, that i can then take on to other projects and develop them even further.

My Vampire

This is my vampire. I made her look like a vampire using various tools on Photoshop. I used a burn tool to make her eyes and lips appear enhanced, making the colour stand out alot more and making them look alot more intense. It made her eyes look very dark, and mysterious, and all around her eyes dark and outlined, which looks like a scary vampire with dark dead eyes, drained of life. It made her lips blood red, and the burn tool also added texture, which made her look thirsty for blood. I also made her teeth sharp and enlongated using a warp tool, giving her the teeth of a vampire aswell.  Lastly I changed her skin tone to a bluey grey colour using the sponge tool, which drains the colour out of her, making her look dead and cold.

Over all i am pleased with how my vampire looks and i feel like i used the tools well for a first time. I was pleased with how i used the sponge tool as i got an even background of colour, but i was especially pleased with the burn tool, as it enhanced the lips and eyes really well and made them look so much more intense.

Magazine Introductory Styles

Magazine introduction gives the reader a feel of what the article is going to be about. It catches their attention and draws you in; it is the element that dictates whether you read on.

Shock horror introduction

Christmas time. The best holiday of the year, I’m sure you’ll agree? Not when you’ve been a victim of identity theft. Christmas was completely ruined, but seeing the look of my kids’ face was the worse thing ever. Because I had my money stole from me, I couldn’t afford to get any presents, Santa had failed and so had I. I wouldn’t wish identity theft on my worst enemy, simply because it ruined and my second child’s first Christmas where they could understand the magic of Santa Clause, I’m sure they lost faith in Santa now. It ruined a year of excitement I will never get back, and neither can my kids.

In this paragraph I have went straight into the topic with some sensational information to get the reader to be captured straight away.

Question introduction

I bet you’ve never heard about identity theft? About the things that it can do, the upset and devastation it can cause?  Infact, I bet you’ve never thought that you were prone to it, have you? If someone came to the cash point and took your money, I’m sure you wouldn’t just let them take it, would you? So what’s the difference? If you want to change it then you can, its up to you. 

Formal 3rd Person

Reading the horrific stories with my fellow peers they were absolutely outraged at the concept of identity theft. They could never grasp thought of taking another innocent being’s money and identity. They were discussing the matter and thought those awful people doing the crime should take a good look at themselves, they could never begin to think about treating such a person in that way, it is a horrendous thought that our own identity could be taken from a criminal.

In this paragraph I have used very formal language in 3^rd person. This would make it feel like I am reliable and trustworthy, and that my I am accurate with my information. 

Mild Taboo, 1st Person. Youth slang and north eastern feel

Identity theft is a bitch. People stealing your identity and getting your money... not having that like. I would just love to knock out the people who do it. If anyone does it to me I swear down there will be a lot of trouble. Someone tying to be me, stealing my identity, who do they think they are! How’ay man get a life, I don’t go around stealing your identity so don’t think your are hard and clever stealing mine.

In the above paragraph I have used mild taboo language, youth slang with a north-eastern feel and my topic was identity theft written about in first person. This gives quite an aggressive feel because of the mild taboo language and youth slang, using things like ‘knock them out’ and ‘bitch’. It also fully informs the reader so they understand how I feel about identity theft, and they can understand my personal reason for being upset with identity theft and they feel my emotions. 

2nd person Extreme Taboo

You fucking bastard stealing my money.  You’ve nothing better to do than fuck about messing with peoples lives I’ve never heard anything like it. Wankers you are. In my day if you did that your head would have been clean off but in this day the fucking twats get away with murder. Gets me fucking pissed off. You cunts are clever are yas? I’ll fucking show you that when me and my mates come round you’re fucking shithole and knock ten fucking shits out of you. You’ll be fucking sick.

In this paragraph I have used extreme taboo for someone in their 30’s. This language is horrific and involves the reader in an aggressive way, which 2^nd person narrative aims to do. It is also direct to the reader.
